Well, to be fair, they already kind of were, given how barbers can reshape the horns of Tauren and Draenei, the ears of Goblins, and the... oh god! No! No! of Undead.
But the big new thing is that apparently, Barbers will now allow you to change your face. The barbershop, added in Wrath of the Lich King, allowed us all a way to finally change some of the options we chose as far backs as 2004, but bound as it was to immersion, they really stuck to hair (I guess they were also jewelers, as some female models could also have things like earrings exchanged.) Still, Tauren and Draenei always stood out as having those other options, and when the new, multi-colored Druid forms came out in late Wrath, they had to allow Tauren druids to change their fur color to customize their looks.
With new character models coming out, I think this is a good way to deal with the issue - just let people customize their appearance. This used to be a paid service (and as far as I know, the Barbers can't do sex changes yet,) but nowadays, with race and faction changes, it seems like something this minor - that is purely cosmetic - should be easily done in-game.
