Fangs of the Father - Fear and Vengeance

Yes, this is content from about four years ago at this point, but I finally took the plunge and started working on the Legendary Rogue Dagger quest chain from Cataclysm. My Rogue is my Horde main, but as I play Alliance primarily, I haven't been willing to pay the 10k gold cost out of my Horde toons' relatively smaller coffers.

But I finally decided I could afford it, so here's my recap of the chain so far.

You get the first quest simply by stepping into the Dragon Soul raid on Normal or Heroic and talking to Lord Afrastrasz, the commander of the Red Dragon forces trying to break the siege on the Temple. He'll tell you that you need to pickpocket a decoder ring off of Hagara, the fourth boss.

At level 100 it's pretty easy to solo the whole instance (Spine of Deathwing is tricky,) so simply fight your way through until you can get to Hagara and just pickpocket her after you've cleared her trash groups but before you've attacked her.

The next step will take you to an Ethereal thaumaturge in your faction's main capital (so in my case, Orgrimmar.) He'll ask you for ten thousand gold to power up the ring. They do give you an option to threaten him with murder, but sadly this does not lower the price.

The ring will take twelve hours to recharge, but when it does, you can head to the Vermillion Redoubt in Twilight Highlands.

There you'll find that a group of thieves has struck the redoubt, stealing the purified black dragon egg that Rheastrasza in Badlands had helped produce, giving her life to make sure it was safe. One of them had an encrypted note, which you use the charged-up decoder ring to read. You discover that the thieves came from Ravenholdt Manor.

You travel to Ravenholdt with a red dragon named Morastrasz, and you are forced to sneak into the manor. You get a little red circle around you while you're in stealth in this segment (and future ones.) I believe that if any guard steps into your red circle, you'll be caught and presumably teleported out to start over. You sneak around to the back of the building and use a conveniently placed rope to scale the walls and then break in through a window in the turret at the top.

Sneaking down into the basement from there is not too difficult. And it's there that you meet Wrathion.

Obviously, having played through Mists, Wrathion is much less of a stranger to the average player, but this was his big debut.

Wrathion is impressed that you were able to sneak in and offers you a job (Morastrasz is caught and has his legs broken for his troubles.) Being a good rogue, you immediately accept the offer and start working for him.

Wrathion wants to wipe out the rest of his family - the Black Dragonflight - as they all pose a threat to him because of his freedom from corruption. The first target he sends you after is a dragon posing as a Gilnean named Lord Creed, who has taken over Gilneas City with a massive army of mercenaries.

You fly out to Gilneas and meet up with a mage friend of Ravenholdt and then sneak into the city to kill Creed.

The city is absolutely packed with mercenaries, but perhaps because I'm fifteen levels higher than I should be for this content, the stealth mechanics were very forgiving.

Unfortunately, the fight against Creed was over in a single Ambush, so I can't really say if there were any interesting mechanics to the fight. Ah, the problem with outleveling content.

With Creed dead, you get teleported out of the city and can safely fly back to Ravenholdt. Wrathion praises your success and gives you the first set of daggers, Fear and Vengeance. From there, you're sent to the Dragon Soul raid to gather stuff off bosses.
